求救:pppoeconf配置时碰到的问题

出现如下屏幕显示：
                                  Scanning Device
                      Looking for pppoe access Concentrator on eth0...
之后出现如下屏幕显示：
                    Sorry，I scanned 1 interface,but the access
                   Concentrator of your provider did not respond.
                   Please check of your network and modem cacles.Another
                   reason for the scan failure may also be another running
                   pppoe process which controls the modem.

我估计失败的原因是后者，即： Another reason for the scan failure may also be
                             another pppoe process which controls the modem.
请问该如何解决？

我以前碰到类似的情况是多pppoeconf几次，或者重启再pppoeconf，总会配置成功的。不知道你的情况能否解决。
现在我是让adsl猫自动拨号，就不用再pppoeconf了，感觉方便一些。

该问题是问题在我netinstall的时候输入linux26，选择2.6的内核。如果直接enter，选择安装2.4的内核是不会有问题的。
现在我是先安装2.4内核，然后升级到2.6
