Anybody installed JDK under debian?

I download the self-extract(.bin) file of jdk from java.sun.com. However, both 1.4.2 and 1.5 report a "file currupted" when I perform the extraction. I had downloaded several times from different place, but the result was the same. I want to know what's the cause and how to resolve it ?
