Chinese input in iBox

Hi

I am new to iBox.  I have a couple of questions:

1.  Can anyone tell me how to activate Chinese input in iBox?
2.  When I attempt to mount a USB flash disk (U-disk), e.g.

#mkdir /mnt/sda1
#mount /dev/sda1 /mnt/sda1
#ls -l /mnt

The date and time of /mnt/sda1 is always wrong (1970-01-01), any ideas?

I can find the Chinese input toolbar on the top inside Gnome.  However, the mouse click only change the input method and I do not know how to input Chinese character.  Please advise.

Yes, you can use USB flash disk in 0.1.  I do it by creating a mount point and specify filesystem type, say:

#mkdir /mnt/sda1
#mount -t vfat /dev/sda1 /mnt/sda1

This is only readable and writeable by root.
Alternatively, you may even add an entry to /etc/fstab to let the default user mount or write the flash disk.

However, I do not understand why the date is incorrect.

The bind key to active Chinese INput method is "Ctrl + SPACE"(IBOX uses fcitx only).

Congratulate on your success of IBOX _flash_ PORT. ;-) Meanwhile, I feel surprised.

1. I did tried Ctrl+Space in OpenOffice Writer, unfortunately, nothing!  No Chinese characters can be input.
2. The time is correct set and display on the clock in Gnome.  Just the time showing the mount point for the flash disk is wrong.

Any ideas?

OO in IBOX-0.1 supports Chinese Input method with almost all usual Chinese fonts. Do you select a proper Chinese font _before_?

However, as I am not often used Chinese input and I am not a native Mandarin speaker, I am not good in pinyin and I feel very hard to type Chinese characters.

As for the USB flash disk, I tried again.  I am 100% sure the time before I create the mount point is correct.  After mounting the U-disk, the time on the mount point is set to 1970-01-01.  I also tried to create a mount point for hda1 but I do not have such problem.

Don't know what is wrong.  I suspect it may be a problem of udev, are you using udev in iBox?

Anyway, thanks again for your hints.

Why not "WuBi" input method?
English ok too. ;-)

IBOX uses udev. However, it works well all the time. I don't think such a time-problem involves udev. Re-format it! -_-

Well, I am quite poor.  I don't know "WuBi", I used to input Chinese characters with my PenPower writing pen.  Unfortunately, it does not work in Linux.  Since the day I dumped W98, I can no longer able to type Chinese characters.  I know a little pinyin but no so good.

The 2.6.8.x kernel is known to break many SCSI devices such as IDE CD writers.  Unless you are root, any other users are unable to burn CDs.  See http://lwn.net/Articles/97552/

USB flash disk is sort of emulated SCSI device.  It may or may not be related.

On the other hand, udev brought me lots of trouble in building LFS.  This bitch works closely with the kernel to dynamically define mount points for external devices.

I suspect the problem might be due to the 2.6.8 kernel+udev combination.

If you plan to release future versions of iBox, please get rid of the 2.6.8.x series kernel.

I've heard of that, but strange enough, I can burn a CD as a normal user (using 2.6.8-nitro6 and k3b) without any problem.
