I plan to convert Multi-OS, windows and mandrake, to a pure ans unique OS, SUSE linux8.2, if i could talk to my friens in china by Gaim in voicetalking other than typing.

why is there so few people around here? it seems like not as hot as other sections like mandrake and redhat.

I don't have a microphone, so i can't try voice-talk via gaim. But i think you can try it. Because voice-talk in gaim should be same on which distr of Linux you choose.

But i suppose there is no such function in a relativedly old gaim,like gaim 0.5X.

Of course you can update your gaim, why not?

Another question: Must SUSE be installed in the section which is loacted at the cluster no more then 1024?
could i install it at the end of disk?

suse的安装应该是没有任何限制的，装在8.4G之后也没有问题。
我开始用linux是从MDK开始的，也曾经用过redhat，不过后来被suse所吸引，就一直在suse下工作了，从7.3到8.0一直到现在的8.2。感觉suse的某些设置可能和其他发行版有比较大的差别，比如没有rc.local（这一点我一直觉得是suse的一个缺陷），但是其他方面应该不必其他的发行版差，尤其是关于硬件设置方面的东西，yast绝对比其他系统的东西更好（事实上，我就没能在其他系统上找到一个能和yast完成相同功能的东西）。
