如何让Debian支持大于1G的内存？

回车，然后选择，1G的应该选4GB那一项
不过，debian自带的内核应该都已经有了才对，我装了两个内核，一个是2.6.16-2-686，一个是自己编译的，都有4GB的支持(1.25G)
你看看/boot/config-2.8***这个文件里有没有CONFIG_HIGHMEM4G=y这一行，有就是说已经打开了大内存支持

我的2.6.12-1-486也不支持1G内存，显示8xxM。
不明白为什么

这就不知道了，手头没有2.6.8的内核，网速太慢了
建议：挪走.config再make menuconfig看看 或者，从kernel.org上下一个，或者换新版的内核

支持啊，我觉得下载的2.6.x内核都支持1G以上的内存啊。

网上有一篇文章说1GB的时候最好不要打开大内存支持，虽然会少128M内存:

It is advised to not enable CONFIG_HIGHMEM in the kernel to utilize the extra 128 MB you get for your 1 GB RAM system. I/O Devices cannot directly address high memory from PCI space, so bounce buffers have to be used. Plus the virtual memory management and paging costs come with extra mappings. For details on bounce buffers, refer to Mel Gorman's documentation (link below).

这个观点对吗？
有硬件不用，不让其功能全部运行，那这个系统也是不行的。
linux 都能支持4Ｇ以上呢，1Ｇ怎么会不让用呢？

128M是内核内部使用了，进程不能使用，并不是128M内存放着不用。
