  1. (scim-setup:4210): Gtk-CRITICAL **: gtk_widget_set_sensitive: assertion `GTK_IS_WIDGET (widget)' failed

  2. (scim-setup:4210): Gtk-CRITICAL **: gtk_widget_set_sensitive: assertion `GTK_IS_WIDGET (widget)' failed
  3. The program 'scim-setup' received an X Window System error.
  4. This probably reflects a bug in the program.
  5. The error was 'BadRequest (invalid request code or no such operation)'.
  6.   (Details: serial 169 error_code 1 request_code 152 minor_code 23)
  7.   (Note to programmers: normally, X errors are reported asynchronously;
  8.    that is, you will receive the error a while after causing it.
  9.    To debug your program, run it with the --sync command line
  10.    option to change this behavior. You can then get a meaningful
  11.    backtrace from your debugger if you break on the gdk_x_error() function.)
复制代码

运行emacs-gtk出现:

  1. Fatal error (11)Segmentation fault (core dumped)

ps. core dumped 的那个core文件用什么打开呀?用gdb打开他说:
"core" is not a core dump: File format not recognized
幸好目前scim还可以用。

现在我在GNOME下可以运行GTK程序,而在KDE下大型的GTK程序全部没法运行。
而且在GNOME下运行时也有问题。
等他升级吧。

Subject: libxfixes3: XFixesSetCursorName (no such operation)
Date: Tue, 11 Apr 2006 18:59:35 -0400

Package: libxfixes3
Version: 1:3.0.1.2-2
Severity: grave
Justification: renders package unusable

After upgrading to X.org 7, I can no longer launch most X11
programs. This includes xterm, xemacs, gnome-terminal, xmms,
etc.

$ xterm
X Error of failed request:  BadRequest (invalid request code or no such
operation)
Major opcode of failed request:  154 (XFIXES)
Minor opcode of failed request:  23 (XFixesSetCursorName)
Serial number of failed request:  24
Current serial number in output stream:  25

xmms gives a different error message from the GDK, but
implicating the same major/minor.

Hello.

If you are a Gnome user, you can try this workaround:

Open your ~/.gconf/%gconf-tree.xml and locate the following entry:

  <entry name="cursor_theme" mtime="1144799098" type="string">
     <stringvalue>XXXXX</stringvalue>
  </entry>

Most users will have "Industrial" in there. Just change it to something
else, like shown above.

If you still use the split XML tree, the entry is inside
~/.gconf/desktop/gnome/peripherals/mouse/%gconf.xml

This change reverts your cursor style to the plain old X11 one, but stops
the constant errors. At least for me, so far.

Grü?e,
Sven.

Using gconftool is easier and works at once, no need to logout and login
again.

gconftool-2 -s /desktop/gnome/peripherals/mouse/cursor_theme -t string XXXXX

Ok, after discussing this bug with the submitter on IRC, he managed to fix
it by removing gtk-engines-industrial. He says that the strace shows the
apps are all looking for the Inustrial cursor theme. Reassigning the bug
there. Thanks!

[Message part 1 (text/plain, inline)]

reassign 362049 gtk2-engines-industrial
thanks dude

This package causes breakage in any Athena-using program when installed
with the new Xorg packages.

I'm attaching an strace of xedit which shows xedit finding the cursor
and trying to speak xcursor/xfixes to the X server.

Hi.

I don't think this to be a bug of gtk-engines-industrial, because the same
error occurs, if you for example use the "whiteglass" theme, which is a
part of xlibs-data.

The original submitter "fixed" this by removing gtk-engines-industrial,
because then the same thing happens as with my changes to the gconf-tree:
Gnome falls back to the default builtin cursor theme, which works without
problems.

So to me this indeed looks like a bug somewhere inside X.

Grü?e,

[Message part 1 (text/plain, inline)]

Hello,

when I start the xcompmgr I get several errors like

"error 1 request 154 minor 5
error 1 request 154 minor 10
error 1 request 154 minor 12
error 1 request 154 minor 13
error 1 request 154 minor 17
error 1 request 154 minor 22"
(cut, sorted and uniq)

all related to Region operations in XFIXES. Of course xcompmgr doesn't
work.

Best regards,
  Silvestre

As already discussed on #debian-x, rebuilding libxfixes3 fixes the bug.
