可能有人说etch不稳定。我可以负责的说我们公司上千台etch。都是核心收费业务。
Hopefully there won't have to be an RC3.
DebianInstaller/EtchRC2Prep

For day-to-day issues, see DebianInstaller/Today.

o
...
Issues
*
Blocking
o
...
*
Maybe blocking
o
libparted does not support ext3 partitions that have dir_index or resize_inode set (complains about "incompatible feature enabled"); this means that in partman resizing such partitions or copying data to (from?) them ([WWW] #405098) is not supported; also reported in [WWW] ubuntu
o
CD-ROM support on sparc32 (esp) broken in kernel; see e.g. #393786
o
sky2 network driver broken; can cause kernel panic
o
"Device switching" after reboot on systems with multiple HD controllers; is really an old issue but occurs more frequently after switch to udev
o
Graphical installer
+
Usability: <enter> does not activate <Continue> button for some template types
+
Not possible to generate random keys (often used for swap) for crypto setup due to missing entropy plugin
o
Some issues for ppc:
+
floppy installations broken because device node for swim3 module is not generated by udev (probably kernel issue)
o
On mips a disk device may be detected as a partition ([WWW] #404950). This is really a kernel problem in the driver; it has been worked around in partman-base (definitions.sh).
o
Should we do something in D-I about the TCP window scaling issue ([WWW] #401435)? Probably not, but get it mentioned in the Release Notes.
*
Non-blocking
o
Some display problems using UTF-8 locales ([WWW] #348032 and UTF8BrokenApps)
o
Issues bringing up network devices on booting the installed system
+
Joey proposed a workaround in the network configuration ([WWW] #403706). Question is if this is still needed as reported issues look to be solved in udev (0.103-2).
+
Remaining issue is that in random circumstances, the machine's primary network interface can take arbitrarily long to come up during boot. With daemons starting in the meantime, this may lead to undefined behavior. This should be documented in errata and RN.
o
Some CD controllers need 'generic.all_generic_ide=1' to be recognized.
To Do before release
*
Wanted packages
o
...
*
Check status/issues/migration for non-d-i udebs
*
Update debian-cd
o
Include basic development packages on netinst/full CD images ([WWW] #301138, [WWW] #407689)
o
Netinst CD images are larger than they are supposed to be due to [WWW] #410418
Post-RC2 development
Hopefully there won't have to be an RC3.
See DebianInstaller/LennyGoals for post-Etch development.

Etch d-i RC2
Last updated: Mon 19th March 2007
This should hopefully be the last debian-installer build before we rlease Etch. There are a lot of images here, including:
* A full version of Debian etch/testing (in either CD or DVD form) for all architectures and source
* A variety of other discs: multi-architecture CDs and DVDs, and variants on CD#1 that default to installing KDE or XFCE rather than Gnome.
All the RC2 images are distributed as ISO, bittorrent and jigdo files. Please use jigdo if you can, as it significantly reduces the load on our servers and it may greatly speed up your download too.
Problems?
If you encounter any problems with these images, please check the Debian CDs FAQ. The most common complaint at the moment is about wrongly-sized or corrupt DVD ISO images, which is normally a bug in your http download program.
If your problem is specifically about the images, and is not covered by the above FAQ, please report it to the debian-cd@lists.debian.org mailing list. Otherwise, if you have a problem with the installer the best place to report that is via the Debian Bug Tracking System at http://bugs.debian.org/ - please use the "installation-reports" pseudo-package.
