在debian中从XFree86升级到xorg以前一直很顺利，这次遇到了麻烦
这是因为debian中的xorg升级到了7.0.11,如果你想从stable或sarge升级sid，X启动不起来了。但是xorg没有错，尽管才开始我以为是bug。
1.检查你已经安装的xorg版本

debian:~# dpkg -s xserver-xorg

2.由于在debian中安装xorg7.0时说明文档少，如果你不知道要安装的包，会让人折腾，浪费时间。如：起动X时提示找不到xkb,mouse,或synaptics
只要安装这些包就行了，而且debian都做好这些包了：
apt-get install xserver-xorg-input-kbd xserver-xorg-input-mouse xserver-xorg-input-synaptics
如果你出现其它的提示，要找对应的包安装

昨天我升级到7.0.11了，x果然挂了，上来看看，大家都没有反应，还以为是个别问题。刚开始的提示是显卡的BusID不正确，而且“fixed”字体无法打开。后来我重新配置了xserver-xorg这个包，字体的问题不再提示了，但是BusID的问题还是警告，而且新增加了找不到Touchpad驱动,找不到twm和xterm的错误，安装了twm和xterm之后问题解决。

sarge 下怎么将xfree86升级到xorg?

把/etc/apt/sources.list中的源地址改成sid的，然后更新一下软件包列表，之后apt-get install x-windows-system-core应该就可以了。

你这么一说我也不敢装了，原来装系统的时候x就搞了好久，过几天有更好的解决方案再装

好像很多升级了,X启动不了的

才一天，版本又升级到了7.0.12
debian:~# dpkg -s xserver-xorg | grep Version

在我机器上，是在redhat中用dbootstrap安装debian后升级至sid版,当时配置xorg浪费了我近两个小时。（现在不会了）
x-window-system在xorg 7.0中已经没用了，而是仅用x-window-system-core,不要在上面花时间。

俺是每天升级，有问题即时解决，长知识啊，现在根以前一样，不过是Xorg确实升级到7.0了
