about memory..

my memory is totle of 1G ...but for some reason after i watch a movie by using "xine"
,my memory become "1000MB/1012.2MB" even though i closed the xine

i didnt ran any program to use all that...i only run the X and other basics like gnome
on fedora 3 i used .. it didnt happend but why on debian?
can any body explin or solve it?

please help...

iam not first time using linux, but first time using debian.....it never happends on fedora i used.. thats what iam confuss about=.=
