After two technology previews, Conectiva has released the first beta of its upcoming Conectiva 10: "Here is the first beta of our upcoming Conectiva Linux 10 release, expected to be launched in Q2 2004. You only need the first CD to install the standard profile. If you want GNOME, extra games and servers, you can download CDs 2 and 3." The changes include: "Kernel 2.6.3rc2; KDE 3.2 final plus fixes from 3.2.1 tree; Synaptic with new package selection interface; added support to slide-show in Synaptic, showing screens during package installation; GNOME has been updated to a new development version, towards 2.6 stable; added supermount to 2.6 kernel (very experimental); the installer tries to configure automatically PCI sound boards."
