something wrong with input apps........

i download fcitx's rpm and tar.bz2 packages.
and first i installed rpm.
i rebooted my computer after installing,but my computer can't use fcitx.when you press CTRL and Space,there was no response.what's wrong????but there is a icon at the top of the screen.but the chinese word Fine is grey ,which means that you can't use it.
come on....help me....i can't do anything without Chinese.

and my system is RH8.

don't tell me let me try tar.bz2.i tried.nothing to me.just give me another answer!!!
