you can compile it yourself and it is so eeeeeeeeeeeeasy....

check http://fcitx.org for more install and use information

i did ./configure, make and make install. also export the XMODIFIERS.
now the panel apears when i invoke fcitx in terminal. looks nice but does not work for me~

是不是没有设置locale呀？看看/etc/profile.d/lang.sh的设置。

呵呵，FCITX是支持UTF-8的啊，我印象中可以在en_US.UTF-8下使用……要是不可以的话，你在export LANG=en_US.UTF-8下面添加一句export LC_CTYPE=zh_CN.UTF-8看看……
