slackware10.0内核可以升级到2.4.28吗？

看了/usr/src/linux下的readme，说是一些库文件依赖于指定kernel版本的头文件，那么2.4.26内核升级到2.4.28有没有问题呢？

那么以下这些信息主要是最后两句话是什么意思呢？
- If you install the full sources, put the kernel tarball in a
   directory where you have permissions (eg. your home directory) and
   unpack it:

                gzip -cd linux-2.4.XX.tar.gz | tar xvf -

   Replace "XX" with the version number of the latest kernel.

   Do NOT use the /usr/src/linux area! This area has a (usually
   incomplete) set of kernel headers that are used by the library header
   files.  They should match the library, and not get messed up by
   whatever the kernel-du-jour happens to be.

不用那么死教条吗，把linux-2.4.28.tar.bz2解到随便一个新目录再去安装就可以了。最好不要覆盖原来的/usr/src/linux
